Our History

Milligan Construction Co. was established in 1962 by Patrick Milligan. He and his brother, Sam owned and operated Sidney Sand & Gravel Co. and, when Interstate 75 came through Shelby Co., they decided to form an excavating business. For the next 25 years Milligan Construction Co. performed work for surrounding Municipalities including the City of Sidney, local general contractors and residential customers. In addition, Mr. Milligan partnered with local developers to build new residential neighborhoods in the community. Relationships were established with local industry such as the Stolle Corp., the Copeland Corp. (presently Emerson Climate Control), Ross Aluminum Foundries and others where we continue to do work today.

In 1987 Pat’s brother and partner, Sam, passed away suddenly leaving him with two businesses to run. That year Patrick hired John Westerheide as an estimator, and in 1990 he was named President of the company. Patrick remained very involved in the business until he sold the company to John in 1992. John currently owns the company and manages day to day operations. On January 14, 2013 Patrick Milligan passed away but his influence in our business as well as this community still remains.
